At Beliong Island, IADA Samarahan is constructing 9km of farm road, 5m width to develop the agriculture activity. There had been a study that had proved the area will be very fertile for agricultural purpose. With the new road, it will further enhance the agricultural growth and spark the community confidence on the government initiatives to improve their livelihood.
The main objective of upgrading works is to provide proper road system on island. The road upgrading is not only providing conveniences to the access of residents from villages on island but also can ease the transportation of farm products and subsequently encourage the agriculture activities. This can help to improve the social economy of the island in poverty eradication and also to reduce urban-rural migration of young people living on island. The project is involved upgrading of existing 9km length, 5m width farm road to premix surface road.
The proposed road upgrading is started from the R.C ramp at Sg. Sarawak riverbank to Kpg. Beradek, Kpg. Tiang Api and Kpg Smilang. The project components consist of asphaltic concrete pavement, road shoulder and turfing, road furniture comprising road marking, traffic signs & guardrail.
