Slope failures are very common in this part of the world, be it road embankment of hill slope. The major causes of the slope failures are as follows:
- Human factors- poor workmanship (road), illegal activities on lands nearby, construction material not conforming to standard.
- Water- the main culprit of all. Slopes tend to fail at year end rainy season. Rising water table, increase of weight of slope material and saturation of slope toe tend to cause the slope to slide.
- Inadequate soil bearing- road or slope built on soft soil is always at risk to slide.
