Simunjan has been badly hit by acute water crisis during May – November 2011. About 30,000 people in the district are affected by the water shortage. The project was implemented as immediate mitigation measure to eradicate the water crisis by transferring approximately 4 MLD treated water, tapping from existing Rasau elevated tank to Simunjan.

The major components of the project are 35km length of 300mm dia. Delivery main using AB-3P pipes, 2.27ML capacity of reservoir and 300m length of twin 160mm dia. submarine pipelines.
